1. Permitted academic use
The Coastal Communities Cultural Heritage Platform offers open-access archives for educational, research and non-commercial cultural promotion. You may view, cite and share records under the licence shown on each one, provided you credit the Technical University of Mombasa, the National Museums of Kenya and the contributing community.
2. Contributor responsibilities
Contributors must ensure their uploads are authentic, respect community sensitivities, are not plagiarised and were obtained with the explicit consent of community elders. The project team may reject, modify or remove any record that does not meet these ethical standards.
3. Disclaimer
Our curators check vocabulary, translations and historical descriptions, but materials are presented “as is”. Regional dialect differences, pronunciation variations and local versions of folktales are a natural part of living cultural traditions.
